Morning Workouts and Urban Cookhouse

Rainie, Kathleen and I have pretty much established a weekly workout plan and on Tuesday mornings we go to the YMCA at 5:30 am for the strength group exercise class.  I really like this class because it changes every week and has a wide variety of exercises....planks/side planks, squats, lunges, jumping, push ups just to name a few.  I'm getting used to this whole morning workout thing and I really like getting my workout done in the morning especially on days that I have other plans in the afternoon.  The hardest part is getting up but once I get up, have coffee and get moving I am good to go!

For breakfast, I had another one of my homemade granola bars (thank you minimalist baker for the recipe!). Of course I had a cup of coffee before I left the house and another one when I left the gym because the YMCA is now goving free coffee in the mornings.

By 10:00 I was so hungry that I had to ha e a snack so I just ate a serving of almond nut thins.  I just bought these for the first time and they are pretty good, but the nutrition facts are about the same as a reduced fat wheat thin so if I had to pick, I think I would go with the wheat thins.

Lunch was a delicious salad loaded with toppings which to me makes the best salad!  Just because you are adding toppings doesn't mean you have to add a ton of calories and unhealthy fats.  My salad was made up of romaine lettuce, carrots, green onion, bell pepper, cucumber, tomato, feta cheese, almonds and light balsamic salad dressing.  It was delicious!

For a mid afternoon snack I had a small bag of pretzels with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter.  I have learned that I require 2 snacks when I work out in the mornings.

After work Liz (my roommate) and I went for a walk around our neighborhood until it started raining.  We ran home and waited out the summer shower and then. Headed back out for a hilly, humid walk.  I love going for walks with friends because it is the best time to catch up!  We can go days without seeing each other sometimes because our schedules can be very different.  Liz has her own business called Gilmpress.  She  is extremely talented and does beautiful, unique, high quality work.  She creates custom invitations and paper goods.  Check out gilmpress.com; you will not be disappointed!

Liz and I went to dinner at Urban Cookhouse (UC) for dinner.  Urban Cookhouse is one of our absolute favorite places to eat.  We even have a refillable beverage cup!  Virginia B  (who worked with me this summer) was working at UC so it was great to see her and get to chat for a few minutes.  I really miss seeing her at work everyday.  She is such a genuine, kind, sweet person who always has a smile on her face and has a joyfulness that is contagious!  So now you understand why I was so sad when her time working with me to came to an end!  I ordered the veggie quesadilla with pepper jack and feta cheese per Virginia B's recommendation and it was just as delicious as she said it was!  She also got us fixed up with a cookie brownie and all I can say is wow!  I don't know what all they put in those cookie brownies, but they are amazing!

Sorry for the messy plate, I stated eating and then remembered to take a photo.  It was originally pretty and well plated!

Hydration:  16 oz coffee, 20 oz diet Sunkist, and 96 oz of water

Well that's it for today!  Good night!
