Saturday in the South

We have lived downtown for over a month now, but have yet to go to Pepper Place market on Saturday morning. Today, that changed. We walked over to the large, outdoor farmer's market that is situated in the old Dr. Pepper building. It is little over a half mile walk from our loft so, naturally, JT cooled down with some Front Porch Special sweet tea from Piper & Leaf Gardens.

We found peaches, tomatoes, and cucumbers and headed back home. We were too late to buy sirloins from the local butcher (they sell out pretty quickly!), but will be checking back in a couple of weeks.

We walked home with a nice breeze and an over cast sky, dropped off our goods, and headed out to brunch.

El Barrio is a fun, fresh Mexican restaurant just one street over from our loft. Today was the first time we tried brunch and it was a great idea! JT had the A.M. Burrito that is filled with scrambled eggs, black beans, and bacon.

I opted for a lighter entree and went with the Chopped Romaine Salad. The dressing was very Ranch-y and I wasn't a fan, so I just ate the salad without it. It was delicious sans dressing! The table beside us ordered the chicken chilaquiles and she said they were wonderful so I'm thinking about taking that route next time.

Coffee, per usual.

Then, we stopped by the new Edgar's location downtown to grab a pound cake as a gift. This location has food available until 3pm on Saturday's so we may have to try that too! The cinnamon rolls were about the size of my face!

I'm off to Selma and JT is off to golf. They usually work on Saturdays, but, to my delight, not this weekend. We got to spend the whole morning walking around our neighborhood. I originally had plans to run, but decided walking to the market with my husband would be more beneficial than a solo run. I'm so glad I did! We ended up with 4 miles together anyway. Happy Weekend!

What are your weekend plans?
