Birmingham Farmer's Markets 2015

I am daydreaming of Spring and Summer days and nights like this one. The evenings are spent enjoying the nursery that the Robinsons work so hard in while the Saturdays are spent skimming the fruits and veggies of the local farmer's markets. Last year, we sampled unpasteurized milk from a creamery in Florida when we were on vacation and exploring the market before a race. This year, I would like to find some local meat since I will be cooking a lot more of that as a new wife. When looking to create a super fresh meal, I look no further than local farmer's markets (and Cindy's garden). Here are a few markets in the Birmingham area.

Pepper Place Market opens April 11, 2015 and is famous here in Birmingham. At the very least, spend your morning eating a Steel City pop!

Sprouts - I am really excited about this one! A Birmingham location opened February 18th and I must go check it out! It seems more like a year round grocery store chain than an actual farmer's market with new ones opening this year in both Hoover and Huntsville.

The Alabama Farmer's Market on Finley Ave is a local staple. The website is very basic, but this is the closest to an actual farmer's market in the area. Not commercialized and filled with genuine, local farmers.

More links for local goodness:
Have you had local honey yet? Read this previous Be Well post and get some honey from Ivy Brook Apiary to support local bees.

Interested in local Spring water? Find out more here! The closest  one to Birmingham looks like it's on Doster Road in Prattville. Thanks to Be Well readers for helping us find it!

Are there any more local markets we are missing out on?

  1. Check out Farmer Brad on fb. He sells fresh meat that he raises at pepper place.
