Weekend + Week of Workouts

Happy Monday, friends!

The past weekend was a busy one on the wedding front. I got my wedding dress! Yes, I had already gotten on in October, but after deciding I didn't like the ruffles, I called in a panic the next morning to see if I could get my money back. Thankfully, I paid cash and she hadn't been to the bank yet so I got a full refund. I can't tell you how kind they were at Ivory and White in Birmingham and I wanted to buy the dress because I liked the salesperson! Really though, my mom told me to sleep on it but I had a test the next day and I didn't want to think about the dress all night. I ended up thinking about it anyway so I should have just listened to my mom {I rarely say that}. After that ordeal, I promised myself I would pick up wedding planning after I graduated grad school. It was just too much.

So, after 3 more shops and a few more hours, Anna, Lauren, Janey, Mallory and I headed to Hartselle to look at the Something Blue Shoppe. Diane's in Jasper didn't have a large selection and weren't a huge help in deciding how a dress could be altered so I didn't find anything there. I went to David's Bridal on my own as to not put my family through it again, but they aren't very helpful. The last stop, Imperial Formal Wear is on 1st ave North in Birmingham and while they didn't have a huge selection, I did love the shop owner. She was super sweet but my search still came up empty.

I won't go in to detail, but I did find the dress I wanted at the Something Blue Shoppe, with a lot of help! I never thought I would be picky but once I found the top I wanted, I needed to find a bottom to put with it. More on that after the wedding...

We went on to eat lunch at the Freight House Restaurant where we had good food but subpar service.

Then, on to Birmingham, where we went to Alfred Angelo to order these girls' bridesmaids dresses. I chose the color and fabric and let them pic a style they liked. This was my third experience at Alfred Angelo and each time has been pretty similar. They have a wonderful selection and variety of dresses but the customer service could use some help. The girl checking us out (who shall not be named) was not in a great mood and seemed aggravated. Regardless, they will be getting my business. Oh well.

No worries, we went next door to Yogurt Mountain and it made everything better. Then, Lauren, Anna and I went to her house to chat. We caught up on each other's lives and sipped afternoon coffee like grown ups before heading out to meet JT downtown. JT's friend Ryan and his girlfriend Angie got engaged so we stopped by to give congratulations. They are such a fun couple! After that, we branched out to a karaoke bar and enjoyed some quality people watching. None of which I got a photo of.

Sunday we slept in, went to brunch, and shopped around before heading back to Jasper. JT and I went on a walk because it was a beautiful afternoon but I didn't feel like running. Then, he went to pick up dinner while I finished my on call documentation for work. We decided on sushi from a place in Jasper that gets deliveries of fresh fish 3 times a week. Before you ask, it is beside a gas station and not technically in it. But, hey, it's good sushi and it's Jasper. Then, we watched a movie, which translates as JT and Joey watched Planet of the Apes and I googled rental houses before leaving them to watch Downton Abbey with my dad.

Last week was random on the work out front and I was cold and less than energetic and I'm blaming it on the dreary weather. Here's what it looked like:

Sunday + Monday = off days
Tuesday =  5:40am weights with JT + 4 miles with Kathleen after work
Wednesday = 3 miles in Jasper (I was off work that day because my dad had surgery).
Thursday = 5 miles after work with Kathleen and Kelly
Friday = 15 minutes bike + 15 minutes weights at 5:30 am
Saturday = 7 am 3 mile run

Today, I signed up for the Mercedes half marathon on February 22nd. I would love to do a full, but the Mercedes full is a double loop and I can't take that. Half the distance, twice the fun! So, Kathleen and I just finished 7 post work miles because we couldn't resist the 65 degree high out there and this beautiful sunset that Kathleen captured! I'll keep you posted on our training schedule as we work it out!

 Now, off to watch the Bachelor with the #clinnuts.

What did your week look like?
