Chocolate Coconut Protein Shake















This past weekend one of my very best friends, Mallory, got married. She and Jeff have been dating since we were around 16 so I was more than happy to spend this day standing by her side! I have a long post coming for that. Right now, I am in between tests so I am just taking a {another} short study break to share a recipe for a protein shake that I just know Ashley will like! Long ago, I read a research article that suggested drinking whey protein before a workout (rather than after) increased fat mobilization. Anyway, ever since then, I found out how fast, satisfying, easy, and delicious protein shakes are! They have been my go-to breakfast in the summer, followed by oatmeal in the winter. Think you don't have time for breakfast? Try one!

Chocolate Coconut Protein Shake

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1, 5.3 oz container frozen (thawed x 30 seconds in microwave) Coconut Greek Yogurt
  • 1/2- 1 cup coconut almond milk, unsweetened (or any other milk)
  • optional ice 
  • optional 1 cup spinach
  • optional shredded coconut flakes

Directions:

  1. Combine all in blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Top with 1 tablespoon coconut flakes
  3. Enjoy your 30 grams of protein shake!
